Avoid Common Mistakes in Trailborn RPG
Most players don't get stuck because the game is hard - they get stuck because small mistakes compound over time. This guide helps you avoid the most common ones.
Don't Misallocate Your Stats
Spending stat points randomly is one of the most punishing early mistakes. Check your current stats with /profile or !profile before spending points - bad stat allocation means low damage, low defense, and wasted level-ups. Match your stats to your build:
| Stat | Build |
|---|---|
| STR | Melee |
| DEX | Ranged |
| INT | Magic |
Don't Ignore Speed
Speed is one of the most important stats in the game and one of the most frequently overlooked.
- -Speed determines who attacks first
- -Higher speed can grant multiple attacks per turn
- -Low speed means enemies hit you first - and sometimes twice or three times
Even strong builds fail if they act too late. Neglecting Speed becomes a major problem in later zones.
Stop Wasting Energy
Every action costs energy. Common energy mistakes include spamming low-value actions, crafting one item at a time, and letting energy sit at maximum:
- -
/explore= 5 energy - -
/gather,/hunt,/mine,/cut= 3 energy - -
/craft= 1 energy per item
Keep those costs in mind when planning your sessions.
- -Use energy in focused sessions, not scattered one-off actions
- -Craft in batches to avoid wasting energy and crafting time on single items
- -When energy is full, switch to inventory management, quests, or build planning
If your energy is always full, you're losing progression time.
Avoid Bad Combat Matchups
Combat follows a type system. Ignoring it makes even good gear feel weak.
| Attacker | Beats |
|---|---|
| Melee | Ranged |
| Ranged | Magic |
| Magic | Melee |
- -Check your build with
/skillsor!skillsbefore entering a zone - -Equip the right gear and potions for the matchup
- -Leave and come back later if fights consistently feel too hard - entering zones too early is a common trap
Don't Skip the Core Loop
A lot of players break their own progression by skipping steps. The correct order is:
Collect Materials → Refine Materials → Craft Items → Repeat
When you have enough runes and Golden Coins → Upgrade
- -Trying to craft without refining materials first will block you
- -Hoarding raw materials instead of refining them stalls progress
- -Not upgrading gear consistently lets your power fall behind fast
Use the Tools You Already Have
These commands exist to help you - most mistakes happen when players ignore them:
| Command | What It Shows |
|---|---|
| /help | Full command overview |
| /tutorial | Guided progression steps |
| /profile | Stats, gear, and energy |
| /inventory | Materials and space remaining |
| /skills | Abilities and stat scaling |
Quick Pre-Action Checklist
Before spending energy, ask yourself:
- -Am I using the right stats for my build?
- -Do I have enough Speed for the enemies in this zone?
- -Is this action worth the energy cost?
- -Is this the right combat matchup?
Summary
- -Match your stats to your build - STR, DEX, or INT
- -Don't ignore Speed - it controls who acts first in combat and how often
- -Use energy intentionally, not randomly
- -Respect combat matchups or you'll struggle regardless of gear
- -Collect Materials → Refine Materials → Craft Items → Repeat
- -When you have enough runes and Golden Coins → Upgrade
