Mentorships Have Arrived

This patch took a little longer than expected. What started as a small feature idea kept growing the longer it was worked on, and the result is one of the more substantial additions the game has seen in a while: mentorships.

Mentorships

The mentorship embed can be opened with /mentorship or !mentorship. From there, a player can choose to start mentoring pupils or look for an open mentorship to join as a pupil. Invitations are handled through /invite_pupil or !invite_pupil and /invite_mentor or !invite_mentor.

Mentors and pupils work through contracts together toward shared rewards and upgrades. Mentors cannot progress a contract directly, but can invest in upgrades and temporary upgrades, and influence contract progression through rerolls and focus, which increases the chance of encountering specific contract types. Pupils are responsible for earning contract progression. When a contract is completed, its rewards are shared with everyone in the mentorship.

Other Changes

• –Gear dropped from monsters now has a chance to drop with a bonus, ranging from [+1] to [+5].
• –Monster speed has moved from a flat value to a range, with a random speed rolled at the start of each encounter. Speed ranges for normal to fast tiered monsters have also been increased, resulting in more varied and dynamic battles.
• –The daily quest claim and completion flow has been improved to better match the behavior of the main quest system. The voting embed now correctly refreshes to show the updated voting timer when the claim button is used at a maxed voting streak. A number of smaller text clarity improvements and bug fixes round out the patch.
